A Bug's Life

I went out today with my 100mm macro, which I haven't used much since I bought, and tried to find something interesting to shoot. My cat kept bumping me and scaring away flies and wasps and stuff, but I finally got my tripod out and found a bee that was moving slow enough for me to catch.  I need to get some macro lighting gear so I can get more than 0.5mm DOF....

City on a Hill

The lovely town of Positano, Italia, lies just an hours swaying sickness-inducing bus ride down the Amalfi coast from Sorento, and is well worth the trip!  Next time I will rent a scooter so I can stop and enjoy the view along the cliff-hugging road (I think that would help me not get bus-sick too!)

Domestication

It's raspberry season!!  My brother and I picked 6 buckets of raspberries yesterday and I froze them all today!  Raspberries are my absolute favorite thing ever pretty sure, especially with ice cream.  Oh wait, I can't eat ice cream anymore..  sigh..  and there are tree-ripened peaches, strawberries, and also fresh squeezed apple juice to contend with.  Raspberries are ONE of the best things ever.

Wow that was a girly blog post...

Gateway to the Garden

We visited some gardens in Seville, Spain. They were around a building where Columbus reported to Queen Amidala when he returned from discovering the New World. Or something like that. Anyways, they were really pretty.

I really struggle with being photographically creative with the things I grew up with. Everything just seems so normal and blah to me even if it is super gorgeous. I don't think I've really succeeded with this picture, but I put it up as a motivation to myself to go get something better. We often have gorgeous clouds and sunsets, so I just need to find some interesting things to put in the foreground and have them ready in my mind for when there are amazing clouds out.

Dark Water

Sometimes I get in moods where I really like abstract work.  This is one of my favorite abstractions in the last few years, something about the motion blur in the foreground, the sharp(ish) wave and reflections with the nice background blur speaks to me.  Or maybe I just need more sleep?
