Tarifa

Tarifa, the Southernmost tip of Spain. Apparently it's known for kiteboarding, but there weren't too many of them out in January (I did see one tho...)

Return to Naboo

So if you go watch Episode II (I hesitate to call it Star Wars...) and go to the chapter called "Return to Naboo," you will see this wonderful building... Of course it will be all digitized up, mirrored, and generally made to look... faker... but..  oh well right?

Anyways, the two shots or so in that scene that were not completely computer generated were shot in this building in Sevilla, Spain.  We met up with the LDS Missionaries in Sevilla and they showed us around the city (and pointed out the fact about Episode II getting filmed there).  It was pretty sweet.

Herbicidas

I suppose we should have these posted around our farm as well? ah.. who cares.. (or does con mean "without?"... in that case we are right to NOT have them all around... ) lol. Anyways, it was a lovely evening in Southern Spain and I was out taking pictures of the beautiful green fields and trees (in January!!). And right now there is about 6 inches of snow on the ground outside my door... sigh.. oh to Spain...

Noleggio Rent

The central square in the charming little town of Atrani, just a 15 minute stroll from Amalfi. Absolutely wonderful place. The people are all super nice and the atmosphere is absolutely amazing. I can't wait to go back and rent a scooter and spend a week along the Amalfi Coast taking photos and soaking it all in.

Quai des Orfèvres

I think.  Just west of Note Dame Cathedral in Paris.  Probably one of the most painted and photographed street fronts in Paris.  It was interesting to walk past all the art sales booths along the sidewalk selling endless paintings of this exact scene.

Lovelocked

There are at least three bridges (probably more) in Paris where the side rails are almost completely covered in locks that lovers place.  It gave me a business idea.  Sell locks with dry-erase parts where people can write their names, then after they leave, go take the locks off and re-sell them!  Or maybe that would be totally wrong...  hmm....

The University

Well... It's not a university... I've just been reading "The Wise Man's Fear" by Patrick Rothfuss, and as I started working on this picture of Saint Sulpice in Paris, I started thinking about Kovthe and the wonderous University where he studies. The photo ended up darker and more contrasty than I originally intended as a result. In any case, I HIGHLY recommend "The Name of the Wind" and so far the sequel too, "The Wise Man's Fear" (tho I'm only about 45o pages in....)

Beacon

Not Bacon, tho that's great too. So I think Paris at night with a lover would be fun. Seeing the sites all lit up or lounging in a cafe for hours before finishing off the night with a crepe sounds simply wonderful. Unfortunately for me I didn't have a special someone with me in Paris this time around, but my brother and I still had a good time the few nights when we weren't super tired and jet-lagged and actually stayed out on the streets past 7 or 8pm. One night we had a wonderful dinner with a dear Aunt who lives in Paris (more on that at a later date), and a few other nights we wandered around the Eiffel Tower and down the Champs Elysee to the Arc De Triumph. They wouldn't let me use my tripod on top of the Arc but I was still able to get a few stable shots off by setting my camera on the ledge on the other side of the guardrail...

More later, but I've decided to limit myself to one or two pictures a day only, with the idea that maybe I'll post and work on pictures more regularly... Cheers.

Heidi+Robert

I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot Heidi and Robert's wedding just a few days before Christmas.  It was a wonderfully Christmas themed wedding with lots of snow to go along with it!  Fortunately it wasn't too cold that day and the lighting worked out great!

This is definitely way late, but Christmas break, then a last minute trip to Europe for most of January, followed by moving 800 miles north slowed me down.  I'm finally all set up and will be working through this wedding as well as one other wedding from late November..  Cheers

Streets of Amalfi

Walking around Amalfi and the surrounding towns was absolutely amazing!  Definitely a workout as most of the streets were stairs!
