To Film, or Not to Film?

On our last shoot, Nathan was manning the monster film cameras, while I stayed with the much less monstrous 1Ds-mk2 (okay, so that is a pretty big monster with the 70-200L 2.8 on it... but that is a GOOD monster) *(thats for all the camera nerds out there... :) ).

ANYWAYS, I decided to try out adding some film grain to a shot to see if people (well, Nathan at least) thinks it looks like film at all.

So, without further adue, and without even any more parenthesis, I present:

Filmin' at the Castle

I had another shoot with Nathan yesterday. We were shooting a couple that really wants everything shot of film, so I was just backup. Nathan manned the big guns, a medium format (6x7 cm) and a large format (not sure exact size.. 5 inches maybe?) monster. It was great because the couple had a lot of ideas as to what poses and shots they wanted. All in all it was a fun evening. (aside from lugging potted trees up to the castle lol... but that wasn't too bad in the end...)

Went out yesterday for an engagement shoot in the gardens at Tahitian Noni. It was a really pretty place!

Auditions

My roommate was contacted by a Church film producer in need of a young Hispanic actor. They needed some casual pictures of him, so off we went to get some shots.

A Morning Shoot

We went out again this morning for some more shooting and it turned out to be really fun. Of course we DID get pulled over by a cop who said he could arrest us for trespassing, as well as give us several tickets, but in the end we got a few warnings.

Tell me, do you like Black and White? or Color? I think I like the Black and White one myself...

An Evening Shoot

That's about as creative as I get at 12:03... Here are some grabs from a shoot this evening. The light (or rather the dark) caught up with us faster that we thought it would, so we are headed out again tomorrow morning at 7:30... I have a terrible feeling I said something about the light at 8 that led them to pick that early time.... sigh...

Matin' Season

Well, it's almost spring, and love is in the air!!! And that means lots of engagement shoots! This is from last week, and I will be shooting two more this week. Engagements are usually a lot of fun, and its nice that things are starting to green up a bit.

I have been looking for fast ways to touch up skin on portraits (it usually takes a bit of time to get nice skin tones and smoothing etc and mask around the eyes and other sharp areas) and recently stumbled across Portraiture, a plugin by Imagenomic that does all the smoothing and masking in about 10 seconds. This first picture is the first one I have tried it out on and I think I like it a lot.

Cabaretting Liz-ilicious!

hmm.... So maybe that isn't the best post title... But I try to come up with interesting titles, and that is what my tired mind came up with... Lol. So here are a few more of my favorites of Liz.

I am gradually sorting through the rest of my DanceSport pictures as well as an engagement shot or two, so hopefully there will be a nice stream of pictures coming.

This is one of my favorites of Liz; its not super flashy or crazy, but very classy I think. Cheers!

A Little Bit of Liz!

One of my amazing friends, Lauren, has an amazing sister, Liz, who is also a great friend. She competed this year in DanceSport and made it to the national finals in Cabaret! She and her partner were one of the top 5 teams in the nation. Here is a taste of the nights events, with many more to follow, both of Liz and other dancers.
